Hydrogen power engineering in Russia: state and prospects

The article is devoted to the analysis of the state and development prospects of hydrogen energy in Russia. A brief history of the problem is given, the results achieved to date are shown. The main goals, directions and tasks of the action plan «Development of hydrogen energy in Russia until 2024», adopted in October 2020, are considered in detail. The analysis of the main projects and new technologies in the field of hydrogen energy, on which Russian specialists are working, are shown, their achieved and expected ones are shown. results. The article analyzes the consequences of the declared energy policy of the new US President Joe Biden for the oil shale industry. Despite the advancement of the Green Agenda, the policy of the new administration is unlikely to lead to a significant deterioration in the position of US shale producers on the horizon until 2030. The negative effects will be stronger in 2030–2050, but in the face of falling global oil demand, shale production will be in demand due to its flexibility and short investment cycle.

Gasification as a Social Priority

Works on gradual improvement of living standards of citizens in all areas of economy have been a constant priority of the Russian state policy in the 21st century. It also covers the increased accessibility of energy resources our country is so reach with for each person. Currently, one of the most promising and clean fuels is gas. Russia owns the largest resource base of this hydrocarbon in the world – about 20 % of proven reserves of the natural gas are located in our country. And it’s critical to use this advantage to the maximum, first of all – for the benefit of citizens of our country. Besides, today’s agenda includes introduction of a few initiatives that allow accelerating the process significantly and expanding the gasification perimeter.
